No new music review today as I’m procuring a catch-up review for Friday exploring the great stuff from August that I haven’t covered.
In the meantime, I want to know: what’s catching your ear this week? New or old, let’s talk about it!
Also, the biggest news in my musical orbit this week is “There’d Better Be A Mirrorball,” the new single from the upcoming Arctic Monkeys’ album, The Car. I love it as I’m also a massive fan of Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, which most definitely divides the fanbase.
What do you think of “There’d Better Be A Mirrorball”? If you moan about it not sounding like Humbug or AM, consider yourself warned about my response!
One of the things that strikes me is how much the band and I have both changed over time (if that makes sense?). Going from "On The Mouth" to "Wild Loneliness" can give you whiplash. Both are fantastic records, but for very different reasons.
Glad to hear! Think it builds perfectly on Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. Definitely feels like an opening track and I'm so curious to hear what's to come from the new record. Thanks for reading!
A few in my heavy rotation over the last few days:
•Graham Parker- Squeezing Out Sparks
•INXS-Listen Like Thieves
•Superchunk- Wild Lonliness
•High Vis- No Sense, No Feeing (and the “preview” of their upcoming record via Bandcamp)
•Talking Heads- Fear Of Music
-songs-
•The Shamen’s- Ebeneezer Goode
•Throwing Muses- Dizzy
+1 for INXS! Superchunk's Wild Loneliness is probably destined for my year end list, yet I haven't reviewed it. So it goes sometimes.
It'll likely make my list, too.

I do have to say I didn't necessarily expect this from AM! I love it
