Nobody knows this song, but you should. She’s from my hometown of Sioux City, Iowa.

Proper stomper there! Really dig the Muscle Shoals-esque horns and that wicked keyboard. Nice suggestion!

Blondshell was a great find and my summer song is the first cut on the album — Veronica Mars

Still my favorite debut of the year and know it's probably a top 5 for the year unless a few wild things drop in the next two months! Such a cathartic release, that one. Reviewed it back in April if you're interested:

It is perhaps beginning to dawn on people in the "culture industry" that 15 seconds of pure-High Fructose Corn Syrup -hook is not enough to hang an entire fad upon.

Some of my most frequently played tracks of the summer have been:

Right Thing by Bayonne (https://open.spotify.com/track/5WSbA7CYliGAJiZTRldTMK?si=3MK5mnnVSNeOszgl1AK6nQ)

The Big Mess by Tanlines (https://open.spotify.com/track/4IHPXmWuuBzVdMOhhY9lYS?si=xhu7XunoRQGUkcYc2Msvyw)

and The Clown by Mega Bog (https://open.spotify.com/track/1YNzfTqQVnQt1wUTTEvyuh?si=4oFnZXVWSEW6IakNaSta0A)

Whether any of those would be considered “summer songs” is another matter entirely, but they’re songs (and albums) that were on heavy rotation for me over the summer.

Oh yeah, love this breezy Bayonne song! Missed that one and added to the listen list.

I loved the first two Tanlines records but really had a hard time connecting with the new one. Have it on the revisit list.

And that Mega Bog album is spectacular. Such an awesome change in sound for her. Thanks for the suggestions!
