I really like Vile's work, but like anything (I guess) it's best in moderation. if I go too far down a rabbit hole of his music, I wind up with a hangover.
I totally get that and genuinely felt the same after his last record. Think I saw him too many times in a short span - loved his tour with Courtney Barnett and then saw him twice on the same tour after and was ready to leave 20 minutes into that last show. But this record has me the most excited since Wakin on a Pretty Daze! Yeah, it's definitely KV, but there's a new air on it.
I put this album on the other day but got interrupted during the first song which I thought was actually quite strange. Hopefully, the rest of the album is better.
If you find Goin on a Plane Today strange, I have to ask, is this your first KV experience? Sure, he's more known for his guitar work than little piano ditties, but the lyrics and KV's nasally Philly accent are in line with the rest of his stuff. If the first few songs (Flyin - Palace of OKV in Reverse - Like Exploding Stones) don't do it for you, then he might not be your guy! Thanks for the read!
