EVERYONE should have Secret World Live in their DVD collection. It should be like a law or something. He played in Chicago recently, and along with The Cure, I am kicking myself for not going. (At least I saw Depeche Mode and Duran Duran? Allllll my 80s bands toured last year. )
It used to be streaming on Prime but looks like it no longer is. Always love the part with the weird forehead cam on Digging in the Dirt! PG came nowhere near me which has been the case in all the decades I’ve loved him but will probably travel if he comes back to the US. Has to happen.
It's great to see you back, man! My sonic comfort food diet is so predictable it's almost a punch line now. Tons of Yo La Tengo, Jawbreaker, and Replacements. R.E.M. shows up a lot, and rarely do 2-3 days go by without a New Order record getting played. We like what we like, I guess. I did go on a bit of a Peter Gabriel bender after seeing him late last year, particularly with the "Melt" record and Security.
Also, huge +1 for Bruce Hornsby. 'Look Out Any Window' is incredible.
That's enough of me rambling; looking forward to year 4 of this place, and hearing more about Mama Manana, the cafe, and life in the desert in general!
Glad to be back! I’m all good with those choices - I left off my Document tape which could have easily been on there and really would have included the Tim reissue if I had it on physical media. Will def be sharing more during the coming months. So many rewarding endeavors!
Happy new year, welcome back, glad to see you! What an odd song that McCartney track is. But I love it! And Madonna’s Ray of Light? An absolutely gorgeous piece of art. But one I probably haven’t listened to in a couple decades. Time to rectify that.
Hahahaha yeah, just the weirdest and what seems mostly forgotten song from Paul. Such a funky groove. And Ray of Light is so good. Wish the tour was coming anywhere near me cos I would definitely go!
All classic albums and you've inspired me to pull a few out. Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue was my go to Wilson bro album.
When I worked at a hostel in SF we used to play the freshly released Arrested Development album at maximum volume at the front desk and scare the poor hostellers with our dancing and assorted antics.
💯 with you on Pacific Ocean Blue - my favorite Beach Boys related record, period! If you haven’t, I highly recommend grabbing the Bambu vinyl reissue they had for RSD years ago. Not that hard to find and all of those songs would have made just as great of a record if he finished it.
Love your take on Us and yes, Secret World Live is incredible. I was fortunate to see the original So tour, which was mind-blowing.
There are a handful of old favorites that rarely leave regular rotation -- U2, REM, Bowie, Los Lobos, Calexico -- and aside from them, two artists I went deep on with older releases last year were Tom Waits and Joe Henry. I tend to do a Waits deep dive every few years, as that Frank's trilogy still blows me away every time. Joe Henry is a guy I want to like more than I do -- while his records are beautiful crafted (and as a drummer, I dig Jay Bellerose's playing on them), they start to get samey for me after a while. So I did another deep dive and came away with the same conclusion. ;-) I'm glad I tried, though!

Oh my gosh, I haven't listenend to Arrested Development in years! Gonna do that right now.
Change that! Top to bottom classic and you don’t have to mess with a discography!
I will!

Ray Of Light is indeed pretty perfect 🤩
I may have put it on again last night after finishing this one. Sue me!

And +1 for spooking the Euros with AD 😂
