EVERYONE should have Secret World Live in their DVD collection. It should be like a law or something. He played in Chicago recently, and along with The Cure, I am kicking myself for not going. (At least I saw Depeche Mode and Duran Duran? Allllll my 80s bands toured last year. )

It's great to see you back, man! My sonic comfort food diet is so predictable it's almost a punch line now. Tons of Yo La Tengo, Jawbreaker, and Replacements. R.E.M. shows up a lot, and rarely do 2-3 days go by without a New Order record getting played. We like what we like, I guess. I did go on a bit of a Peter Gabriel bender after seeing him late last year, particularly with the "Melt" record and Security.

Also, huge +1 for Bruce Hornsby. 'Look Out Any Window' is incredible.

That's enough of me rambling; looking forward to year 4 of this place, and hearing more about Mama Manana, the cafe, and life in the desert in general!

Happy new year, welcome back, glad to see you! What an odd song that McCartney track is. But I love it! And Madonna’s Ray of Light? An absolutely gorgeous piece of art. But one I probably haven’t listened to in a couple decades. Time to rectify that.

Wishing you the best for 2024!

All classic albums and you've inspired me to pull a few out. Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue was my go to Wilson bro album.

When I worked at a hostel in SF we used to play the freshly released Arrested Development album at maximum volume at the front desk and scare the poor hostellers with our dancing and assorted antics.

Love your take on Us and yes, Secret World Live is incredible. I was fortunate to see the original So tour, which was mind-blowing.

There are a handful of old favorites that rarely leave regular rotation -- U2, REM, Bowie, Los Lobos, Calexico -- and aside from them, two artists I went deep on with older releases last year were Tom Waits and Joe Henry. I tend to do a Waits deep dive every few years, as that Frank's trilogy still blows me away every time. Joe Henry is a guy I want to like more than I do -- while his records are beautiful crafted (and as a drummer, I dig Jay Bellerose's playing on them), they start to get samey for me after a while. So I did another deep dive and came away with the same conclusion. ;-) I'm glad I tried, though!
