Still absorbing this album. One thing I can certainly say is that it hasn’t grabbed me like their debut, which was my number 1 album of 2020. The throwback to the sounds reminiscent of my teen years felt like a real and needed comfort to me during that stressful and uncertain period.
The Way Forward was in the back half of my top 50 in 2021. I just didn’t connect with it as much. And Strange Disciple, right now, doesn’t seem to be bringing much to the table for me either.
But it hasn’t even been a week yet and I need to give it a few more listens at least. Sometimes some of the albums that end up as favorites just take longer to work their magic on me.
I don't think we could have more similar thoughts, Mark! Diminishing returns but you know there's something here and you have to keep going back to it.
