It’s hard to believe that it’s already been three months since Mama Mañana Records released Lowmello’s That Sweet Breath, and we still have some tapes and CDs available on Bandcamp - if you’re interested in picking up a copy with free domestic shipping for Check This Out! subscribers only, reply to this email, and we’ll send it your way. A huge thank you to all who have purchased the EP, written about it, streamed it, added it to your playlists, etc.
I’m happy to announce that the label will partner with Numbered Recordings to release Lost in Love, the debut LP by Zivi. This one has long been in the works since I met him last year and knew I had to work with this incredibly talented yet super down-to-earth Angeleno who shares time in Santa Fe.
Zivi creates timeless melodies that roam between the current iteration of indie rock and Los Angeles’s soft rock heyday in the 70s. Always working in a hazy and dreamlike space, this set of songs is meant to grease the wheels of a hangout’s mellow sway. In support of Zivi on Lost in Love is a who’s who of west coast studio cats, recorded over two sessions at Dan Horne’s (regularly covered here, most recently with his solo debut, Count the Clouds, and the new, triumphant Circles Around the Sun album) Lone Palm Studios, and The Market Recording, both in Echo Park.
While the new single, “Move Along,” is out on all streaming services next Tuesday (6/27), and Lost in Love is due sometime late this summer/early fall, I’d love it if you’d take a few minutes to watch the new music video for his last single, “Way Out,” also included on the upcoming album. For more Zivi, you can stream his 2021 EP, Under the Palm Tree, here.
Lost in Love will be available on vinyl and digital via Numbered Recordings, with Mama Mañana Records handling the cassette release. More details and pre-orders will be up soon, including tour dates (with his live band, The Rocks, in tow) throughout the southwest. Stay tuned, cos you don’t want to miss out on this one!

Great mix! Really enjoyed the Jonathan Wilson track with its unexpected sax solos!
I'm excited for this release! Hopefully, I'll have a tape deck by the time it comes out. Lol.
As for what I'm listening to; I spent a good chunk of this morning giving Tommy Stinson's Cowboys in the Campfire "Wronger" record a spin. It feels like it was recorded in one of those backyards that has light bulbs strung up through it. I say that as high praise; it's pretty clear everyone on this record is having a blast. Tried to play Rickie lee Jones' latest, it's nice, but I cut it off after 2-3 songs. An album of torch songs is a bad fit for an early morning shift.
