After getting tossed from Atlantic Records for lack of sales, Fountains of Wayne hit commercial success with "Stacey's Mom" in 2003. The rest of the album is so much better, and here's why.
True that, but did you know where they got their name? There was a place in NJ called Fountains of Wayne that sold concrete yard ornaments. It was right next door to a strip club, so when they wanted to go there they would just say; "Let's go to Fountains of Wayne".

You are correct and i mention that in the article 😜 really fun song especially with Mike Viola of The Candy Butchers on lead vocals! That is until you hear it 4278 times during the course of a 90 minute movie.
Such an amazing album!
The rare 17 song run where everything works!
"Radiation Vibe" is just sublime. Peak 90s power pop. "Denise," too, for that matter, though it's on Utopia Parkway.

Thanks again for the heads up on the Ivy ‘Apartment Life’ record. I’ve listened to it a ton.
Those first two FoW records are untouchable!
I'm happy to hear it! They put out a record of demos for Record Store day, but I haven't heard it yet,

Great to hear from ya, Richard!
These guys were also hired by Tom Hanks to do the music is his period piece; "That Thing You Do" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117887/?ref_=ttco_ov_i
This was also a great piece of work and a good movie.
