Some fabulous songs here, leading to another batch of albums for me to dive into. That Narrow Head song is fantastic and I look forward to checking out the album. And I’ll certainly be giving the Steve Marino album a listen - I lol’d at the review with the Everclear/Rentals/Empire Records references. I’d check the album out on the basis of that description alone, absolute gold!

I really enjoyed the latest Bully album and she made my list this year. Tanukichan and Jenny Lewis just missed out on my top 50 and it was so close for GIZMO ‘cos I really enjoyed that album

Those Narrow Head and Steve Marino albums are birds of a feather in that they both mine the best parts of 90's alternative for some really enjoyable listens.

I've joked in the comments here that my Boygenius would be Bully/Tanukichan/Blondshell... imagine that collab!

I’m so with you on the alternate boygenius universe. I don’t know what it is, but I just can’t get into the official bored genius. That was a voice to text typo that somehow was able to translate the inner workings of my brain.

Holy shit, you're cookin'! Let's just skip the boygenius hype and hope Lucy Dacus has a new solo record on the horizon.

I saw this and thought “how did I miss part 1?” Damn life stuff! And then I realized there will be 3 more parts (if my math adds up) and I danced a little jig. I see we have some overlap for sure in our lists. I think I learned of Cordovas and Narrow Head from you and dug both. I have Sparklehorse as an honorable mention as although I do like it a lot, over time it is felt a bit less cohesive than his earlier albums for me. In a weaker year it would have made my top 10.

I think a lot of my reasoning for Sparklehorse being on here is that I'm just thrilled we got to hear it, and it was pretty damn solid at that. Feels like hugging an old friend that you wouldn't ever see again. 😢

I totally get that. I definitely was super grateful to get any new music from his vault, let alone something close to the best work he’s released. I’m just coldhearted in that I don’t give any extra points to the dearly departed.

I didn’t mean for that to rhyme .

“Gizmo” is just a solid record from start to finish, and “For That Beautiful Feeling” is next-level!
