Kicking things off with amazing records from Artsick, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Brandon Coleman, Bonobo, Spoon, Big Thief, Tony Molina, Cool Maritime, Marci and Sean Thompson's Weird Ears!
I’ve got a lot (more) new music to catch up with now - super excited. Especially the Tony Molina, who I had no idea had a new album. He’s one of my favorites and love his first two albums and the Ovens stuff. I don’t hear Weezer; I hear Beatles by way of Teenage Fanclub but with more of a punk aesthetic. I don’t know if you’ve listened to Dazy, but OUTOFBODY is a distortion-filled, power-pop gem that, like Molina, never crossed the 2-minute mark. It’s in my best-of list for sure.
Coming back to this: I was already a bit of fanboy for Spoon, but this record? Whew! I feel like it gets a little bit better each time I play it. "Lucifer" is on my list too, and even just trying to pick 2-3 favorites was tough.
There isn't a dud in their discography and the latest is still somehow one of their best. Picking 3 tracks on this one was especially tough, all the songs are top notch. Did you check out the dub remix of the album? Thought it was fun but not something I'll be going back to.
Thanks Kiley, I'd somehow missed there was a new RBCF album out. Loved the first, lukewarm on the second, but looking forward to giving them another go with this one.
Oh yeah, you gotta listen to it! I said the same in my review for it when it came out - Love the French Press EP and Hope Downs but Sideways to New Italy is a real dud. Endless Rooms changes the formula enough that it's quickly becoming my favorite RBCF record. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do and thanks for reading!
What a year! And what a list! I wondered if 2022 would be kind of a dry year for music. I couldn’t have been further off the mark. I’ve got a few of these on my list as well.
More importantly, there’s several here that I missed the first time around.I’m stoked to check them out!
Kinda felt that way going into the year, but between old favorites making some killer stuff and an absolute stack of newbies, it's turned out awesome. Was just recalling, I think we got on each other's radars from that Artsick record...?

Right on, thanks for the recommendation. I'll give it a listen! Thanks for reading.

I did! I thought it was kinda cool, but also something I probably won't listen to again
