Appreciate You Listening To 'Lost in Love,' the Debut Album From Zivi This Weekend
I'm incredibly stoked for you to hear the fourth release for Mama Mañana Records
Today is an exciting day here in Santa Fe, as my lil’ indie label Mama Mañana Records is releasing Lost in Love, the debut album by Zivi!
I’ve written a little bit about it in the past few weeks, but I’m mostly here to say that I’m so stoked that everyone else can finally hear it. This is an extraordinary record that I first heard around a year ago, and I immediately fell in love. While the singles “Move Along” and “Faded” have already been out there for a few months, the rest of Lost in Love is just as great, if not better!
While the A-side is flawless, with a load of single-worthy songs, the B-side pulls me in every time. Looser and more experimental tunes like “Passenger” and “White Ocean” are easily some of my favorite of the year, even if I hadn’t been involved in this record.
Need a little more coaxing? Here’s the quick pitch:
"Zivi is a Los Angeles and Santa Fe-based songwriter creating timeless melodies intended to grease the wheels of a hangout’s mellow sway. His upcoming full-length debut, 'Lost in Love' (Numbered Recordings/Mama Mañana Records), explores the musical space between modernity and the classic lineage that defines the current state of soothing indie rock. Whether the soundtrack to an early spring beach bonfire or the morning’s needed respite after a monumental evening, Zivi crafts the easygoing vibes you’re looking for.
'Lost in Love' is produced with Jason Abraham Roberts (Norah Jones, Ben Kweller, Bedouine, Dan Horne), Peter Recine (Allison Weiss, Yellowbirddd), and Kyle Biane (Pacific Radio, The Dumes). The record is full of appearances by some of Los Angeles’s most reliable studio cats, including drummers Josh Adams (Fruit Bats, Jon Batiste, Beck, Jenny Lewis) and Adam Christgau (Tegan and Sara, Angel Olsen, Sia), bassists Neil Wogensen (Valley Queen, Wild Reeds) and Liam McCormack (Yellowbirddd, The Dumes), and keyboardist Isaac Plummer (Cherry Glazer, Marinero, The Crudes). In addition to co-producing, Peter Recine plays lead guitar, Wurlitzer, and electric Koto."
If you’re a local reader, we’ve got a few fun things going on today (9/15) to celebrate the release. At 2 p.m., you can stop by Betterday Vintage in Santa Fe, where Zivi is playing a solo in-store set. If you’re in Albuquerque, we’ll be there at 6 p.m. to kick off the Bands of Enchantment tapings for this season! That set will have Zivi’s live band, The Rocks, in tow. See ya there!
Stream Lost in Love by Zivi here.
Mama Mañana Records mainly focuses on cassette tapes, and we went all out on Zivi’s record. On top of this version that sounds supremely mint, we have a bonus track only found on the tape! “Time To Believe” is one helluva cut that is just as great as anything else on the album, and you won’t find it on the vinyl, digital, or streaming versions of Lost in Love.
A label as small as MMR runs off of tape sales to pay for the next record, so if you feel up to it, I appreciate anyone who orders one - reply directly to this email and get free shipping!
Also, I’ve had many of you asking for more of the sold-out tie dye t’s, and today you’re in luck! We’ve got a minimal run of heady ice-dyed rags available in Groovy Grape, Berry Blast, and Electric Lime.
I really appreciate your support and hope you enjoy the weekend (while blasting Zivi’s album!) ✌️
My Zivi cassette came in the mail two days ago! And thank you for the Lowmello cassette as well, I appreciate that! I've been enjoying both of them today.
I’m 7 songs in and this is a lovely album!!
